Celebrating Our Wins

Celebrating Our Wins

This is a historic season for the Church in Uganda. With over 70% untrained congregational pastors, the majority of whom are without hope to ever join a seminary school for formal theological training, Dr. Jerry Rueb’s “Pastoring the Flock God” material, has been one of the most effectively transformative training tools for Christian leaders at our disposal. Participants of the 11 modules in Dr. Rueb’s book have demonstrated a sharp growth in their theological knowledge, ministerial ability and character which has improved their identity and sense of calling. The practice-oriented communal learning environment has provided a safe space for pastors and other church leaders to engage on a whole range of issues, tapping into the vast experiences recorded in the book as well as from the peers as they shared in their weekly and or monthly meeting discussions. My very sincere thanks to CTN for their partnership and to all the PDN program teams and coaches for their commitment and dedication toward this study program. This program has benefitted both the pastors in distant places and the faculty of PDN who go out to train them. PDN was enabled to take the PEN resources to hard-to-reach communities that no organization had previously reached, whose accessibility is restricted by their geographical location and political challenges in South Sudan and in the refugee settlements. It has also enabled us to mobilize leaders in these hard-to-reach places to continue the work of the program. I congratulate the participants who demonstrated unrelenting sacrifice, dedication, and hard work throughout this tailored study. Through the support of the cluster groups, different pastors were able to support each other through the different challenges. These participants have gained theoretical knowledge and a deepened relationship with Christ and His Word, now sacrificially serving His church following His example. My prayer is that the truths revealed in Dr. Rueb’s “Pastoring the Flock of God” book will transform the heart of every Christian leader who has studied this resource, as they live for Christ in their families, ministries, Church, and the world at large.
