Welcome to the Church Transformation Network (CTN), where we are committed to equipping pastors who disciple believers so that they can become agents of transformation in their community for the glory of God.

Our informal, student-centered learning approach offers a contextualized, impactful, and sustainable learning platform for pastors who do not have access to formal theological training. CTN works in cooperation with our partners’ existing communication channels, distribution networks, and accountability structures to implement its program in small group settings at the regional and local levels. The training regimen emphasizes pastoral ministry, preaching, discipleship, countering false doctrine, and leadership development. Resources, including books, workbooks, and digital content are available in the local language.

 

We believe that when pastors are equipped with the tools they need, they become effective and powerful ministers of the word of God and their impact makes a difference in the lives of church leaders and their congregations. Pastors report that through CTN’s training they have greater assurance of their call to ministry, they have embraced greater responsibility for the pastoral care of their congregation, and they are more committed to their denomination’s vision and mission of fulfilling the Great Commission. Through CTN’s ministry, 57,000 are currently being trained, who in turn serve 37 million believers worldwide.

Dr. Habtamu Umer is Church Transformation Network president, a nonprofit organization committed to equipping strategic leaders across the world. He was one of the key national leaders in the largest evangelical church in Ethiopia, Kale Heywet Church, which comprises of more than ten million members. He published nine books and contributed to more than ten books, widely used as a training manual across denominations in Ethiopia.

He received a Ph.D. in Intercultural Education from Biola University. During his studies at Biola, he was president of the doctoral research group and presented scholarly papers at different national level conferences. He has worked for World Vision International/Ethiopia, Compassion International/Ethiopia, and Other NGO’s in various roles.

He was born and raised in Ethiopia. Although his father was a Muslim and his mother was a nominal Christian, he gave his life to Christ when he was a teenager due to influence from his peers. Since then, he has been committed to spiritual growth and highly engaged in preaching, teaching, training, mentoring, and coaching ministries across Ethiopia and beyond. He dedicated his life, equipping tens of thousands of strategic leaders both in the church and various organizational settings. Currently, he is living with his wife and three young daughters in Los Angeles, California.
