Equipping pastors to prepare believers for works of service
CTN partners with denominations and national churches so every pastor is connected to peers, growing in calling, character and ministry competency.
CTN Methodology
At Church Transformation Network (CTN), we believe transformation happens best in community. That’s why our entire training approach is anchored in small group learning.
- CTN equips pastors through small group learning environments across Africa and Asia.
- Each learning group consists of 3-12 pastors, promoting interactive and contextualized discussions.
- Pastors learn by doing, applying lessons directly to their ministries and reporting back on real outcomes.
- Small groups foster peer accountability, practical application, and spiritual growth.
- Facilitators guide discussions, ensuring biblical fidelity and practical relevance.
- The model promotes deep transformation, not just information transfer.
- Groups create safe spaces for pastors to share challenges and grow in character and competence.
- CTN’s model builds self-sustaining local training ecosystems that multiply without heavy external dependency.
- By learning in community, pastors are empowered to become disciple-makers in their churches.
How a partnership begins
Three moves set up training that the church owns and carries forward
Partner
CTN joins a denomination or national-level church.
Empower a Champion
Leadership names a Champion who embraces the vision and carries final denominational responsibility.
Build the team
A National Training Team of about five in-country experts supports the Champion and plans the rollout.
Five tiers, one connected community
Everyone has a part to play
Participants at each level of the training model (National Training Team, Coaches and Facilitators, Cluster Leaders and Small Group Members) have distinct responsibilities and must engage actively and consistently for the ministry to function at its full capacity. All leaders are expected to embrace Biblical standards of conduct and conflict resolution as they model the behavior of a pastor/shepherd.
See how far one level can reach
Each Coach oversees 30 to 70 Facilitators, Each Facilitator oversees 3 to 7 Cluster Leaders, Each Cluster Leader leads one cluster of up to 12 pastors
This structure and methodology has the ability to project training content to the local level across a wide geographic area. Ministry reach is limited only by a lack of manpower, communication and logistical barriers.
Training in phases
Each country-specific strategic plan is executed in phases, with each phase representing a new focus of study (pastoral training, preaching, etc.). The duration of each phase is dependent on the length of the training resource, typically between six and twelve months.
Focus: Pastoral training.
Pastors engage the first resource personally, then apply it together in their cluster.
Typically 6 to 12 months
Preaching
A new focus of study begins, building on the community formed in the first phase.
Typically 6 to 12 months
Next focus
Each phase brings a new resource chosen with the Champion and National Training Team.
Typically 6 to 12 months
What makes the CTN model different
Six strengths set CTN’s pastor training apart.
A lifelong learning community
The training methodology is designed to create a community of pastors who continue to learn and grow together. This helps them stay engaged and equipped to serve their congregations effectively.
Contextualized curriculum
Training materials are tailored to the specific needs and contexts of each denomination or national-level church. This ensures the relevancy of the training and the applicability of the lessons.
Peer coaching and mentoring
The tiered structure lets pastors receive coaching and mentoring from more experienced peers. This helps them develop their skills and knowledge in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Scales without losing quality
The methodology is designed to be scalable, meaning it can be adapted to work with groups of any size without compromising the quality of the training. This allows CTN to reach more pastors and leaders with their training programs.
Cost-effective
Partnering with denominations and national-level churches, CTN can deliver high-quality training programs at a lower cost than traditional training ministries.
Built to last
CTN’s training model is designed to be sustainable over the long term, encouraging local leaders to identify or produce content for small group study. This helps ensure that the impact of their training programs is lasting and meaningful.
